Clothing retailer Madewell will open in 12South on Tuesday, March 12, with the shop to offer the New York-based company’s new “Denim Edit” concept.
The company — which operates under the J.Crew umbrella — will operate the shop located in the building at 2709 12th Ave. S., which was last home to Corner Music. Marine Layer, a San Francisco-based clothing retailer, is going to have a shop (read here) in the adjacent building at 2705 12th Ave. S.
In a release, Madewell officials said the shop will offer the largest assortment of Madewell denim of any of its other stores. The release notes the shop will offer a personalization station that will provide custom embroidery on denim and cotton pieces and a leather embossing on accessories.
The shop also will feature an area dedicated to men’s products, only the second of its type for the company.
Also, Madewell has commissioned artist Emily Eisenhart to design an exterior wall mural in support of Music Makes Us, an organization of local students and teachers supporting music and arts in partnership with Metro Nashville Public Schools.
Founded in 2006 and based in Queens in New York City, Madewell focuses on women's jeans, shoes, bags, T-shirts and dresses. It also offers a men’s line of clothing and accessories.
The Mall at Green Hills is home to Middle Tennessee’s lone Madewell store. Elsewhere, the line can be found locally at Nordstrom.
Nationwide, there are more than 100 Madewell stores, with some paired with J.Crew.
